Master preflop play with GTO training

The fastest way to internalize GTO preflop strategy is through deliberate practice. This trainer deals you random hands in random positions and scenarios, and you must decide the correct action. Over time, you'll develop intuition for which hands to raise, call, or fold from every spot. To study the ranges themselves, check our Preflop GTO Charts.

How the trainer works

In each round, you are placed at a table in a specific game situation and dealt a hand — just like in a real game. The trainer samples hands that are in-range plus borderline spots near action boundaries, so you practice more meaningful and difficult decisions. Your job is to choose the correct GTO action: Raise (or 3-bet/4-bet), Call, or Fold. After each answer, you see whether you were correct and what the GTO-optimal action is. Accuracy is tracked by position so you can identify and fix weak spots faster.

Training tips

Start by focusing on RFI (Raise First In) scenarios to build a solid foundation of opening ranges. Once you're consistently scoring above 80%, add the Facing Raise and Facing 3-Bet scenarios. Pay attention to your per-position accuracy — most players are weakest from the blinds where ranges are widest and decisions are most nuanced. For deeper GTO study, explore tools like FreeBetRange and GTO Wizard.

Trainer features

The trainer includes several tools to make your practice more effective. Filters let you narrow down the drill: choose a specific Hero position, Villain position, or scenario type (RFI, Facing Raise, Facing 3-Bet) to focus on the spots where you need the most work. Keyboard shortcuts speed up your sessions — press F to fold, C to call, R to raise, and Enter to advance to the next hand. Fullscreen mode removes all distractions and enlarges the table and controls for a focused training experience. The Session Statistics panel on the right tracks your hands played, overall accuracy, current and best streak, and a per-position accuracy breakdown so you can immediately see which positions need more attention.

Frequently asked questions

How are mixed strategies handled in the trainer?

For hands with mixed strategies, the trainer accepts the highest-frequency action as the primary correct answer. If a hand is, for example, 60% raise and 40% fold, both actions are shown as valid — but 'Raise' is highlighted as the primary GTO action. This way you learn the dominant play while understanding that some randomization exists.

How many hands should I practice per session?

Aim for at least 100–200 hands per session for meaningful practice. Short, frequent sessions (10–20 minutes daily) are usually more effective than occasional long sessions. Focus on maintaining high accuracy rather than speed.

Are my statistics saved?

Yes. Your session stats are saved locally in your browser by default. If you create an account and sign in, stats are synced to your account, so your progress stays backed up and available across devices. You can continue training from your laptop, desktop, or phone with the same results.

Can I filter by specific positions or scenarios?

Yes. Use the position filter to practice only specific positions (e.g., only BTN decisions) and the scenario filter to focus on RFI, Facing Raise, or Facing 3-Bet situations. This lets you drill your weakest areas.

How accurate are the GTO decisions in this trainer?

Yes, the GTO decisions here are high quality and high precision. The trainer uses the same preflop range base as our GTO charts. These ranges are prepared by the Hand2Note Guide team together with FreeBetRange experts.
